Naljor Prison Dharma Service is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2001. Through our service, we offer The Heart of Dharma Collection (a selection of 10 precious Buddhist Dharma teachings), a Glossary of Buddhist Terms, and an excellent 28-page Resource Directory for Prisoners.
We provide these resources to men and women in prison throughout the United States and to numerous prison outreach organizations. We have also created the Personal Development Sponsorship Program, connecting prisoners, who have no family or friends on the outside, with a sponsor who supports their personal and spiritual development and continuing education..
In addition, Naljor Prison Dharma Service also combines its efforts with other international organizations, implementing service-oriented projects to assist those in need. Please view our other projects for more information.
Those inside the United States prison system can readily access the inspirational literature and personal support offered by mainstream religious organizations. However, this is not always the case for those interested in the Buddhist path of awakening or other potential avenues which can support one's psychological and spiritual well-being. In light of this, our present array of resource materials are provided specifically to meet this growing need.
Naljor Prison Dharma Service fulfills the many requests for teachings and resource directories by way of the postal service. However, through this website, we also provide all of our resource materials and dharma teachings free of charge to families of prisoners and to individuals and organizations who are involved in supporting the well-being of those in prison.
