Naljor
Prison Dharma Service
is
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2001.
Through our service, we offer The Heart of Dharma Collection (a selection of 10 precious Buddhist Dharma teachings), a Glossary
of Buddhist Terms, and an
excellent 28-page Resource
Directory for Prisoners. We provide these teachings and resources directly to men and women in prison
throughout the United States and to numerous prison outreach organizations. We have also started the Personal Development Sponsorship Program, connecting prisoners, who have no family or friends on the outside, with a sponsor who is willing to support their personal and spiritual development.
Those
inside the United States prison system
can readily access the inspirational
literature and personal support offered
by mainstream
religious organizations. However, this is
not always the case for those interested
in the Buddhist path of awakening or other potential
avenues which can support one's
psychological and spiritual well-being.
In light of this, our present array of
resource materials are provided
specifically to meet this growing need.
Naljor Prison Dharma Service fulfills the many requests for teachings and resource directories by way of the postal service. However, through this website, we also provide all of our resource
materials and dharma teachings free of charge to families of
prisoners and to individuals and
organizations who are involved in
supporting the well-being of those in
prison.
If
you are a family member or friend of
someone in prison, a prison chaplain or
psychologist, or you are working with an
organization who offers prison services
of any kind, you are welcome to
print out or download our Resource
Directory for Prisoners,
the Glossary
of Buddhist Terms,
or any of the Heart
of Dharma Collection
of precious Buddhist Dharma teachings. In addition, if you might be interested in sponsoring a prisoner who has no family or friends on the outside to support them, please view our Personal Development Sponsorship Program
Prison
outreach organizations, or individuals working with prisoners, you are welcome to
freely use and distribute our dharma teachings and our Resource Directory for
Prisoners. You may customize the top, front page of the Resource Directory, using the name and information of
your organization or service. We would be happy to
facilitate this by sending you the
original Microsoft Word file or a PDF file so you can customize the
document for your organization, or we will do this for you.
May
the virtue of this Dharma work be
dedicated to liberating all living beings
from suffering, and to the ultimate goal
of enlightenment for the benefit of all.
May the precious, superior heart/mind of
Compassion, Wisdom, and Love be generated
in those who have not yet generated it.
May it not decrease in those who have
developed it, but increase continuously.
